For Wednesday, September 3

It was a pleasure to meet you all and I look forward to a productive and rewarding class. For this week, beginning students need to bring in the small 4 x 6" canvas that I gave you drawn into 10 sections which we will shade from white to black. You also need: a container for your supplies such as a shoebox or fishing tackle box (not too big, mind you; lockers are small), black and white oil paint, brushes, a small glass jar with a lid, a disposable palette, rags, brush cleaner, a blank canvas or canvas board 11 x 14" or larger and a smock or old shirt. Refer to your syllabus for any extras you might also like to bring in.

More advanced students can bring in one or two examples of previous work if they haven't taken my class before, a canvas, complete painting supplies and still life objects/accessories/fabrics they want to paint. If you want to work from a photograph, it should be a photograph you have taken yourself.
