General
Apron or old shirt for smock
Container to hold your supplies that will fit into your locker
Low (not tall) glass jar (or 2) with a lid and labeled with your name
Quart of Turpenoid labeled with your name
Pencil/eraser
12 x 16” disposable palette pad
palette knife (bent kind)
Rags—lots of them—there is no substitute for rags when painting!!!
Roll of paper towels
5 canvases or canvas boards: 1-9” x 12”, 4 at least 14” x 18” (bigger is fine!)
Optional: vine charcoal and fixative
Brushes
1” flat, ¾” flat, 1/2” flat or bright,1/4” flat or bright, #1 or #2 round and as many other as you can afford. The bigger ones should be bristle; the smaller sable or synthetic for oils
Optional: pre-mixed painting medium, stand oil or linseed oil
Paint
Titanium White—You’ll use this the most
Ivory or Mars Black
Cadmium Red Medium
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Alizarin Crimson
Permanent Green Light
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean Blue Hue
Viridian Green
Burnt Umber
Burnt Sienna
Yellow Ochre
Extra Colors: Quinacridone Violet, Cobalt Blue, Raw Sienna, Raw Umber, etc.
