Painting 161
Professor J. Healy
FINAL PAINTING ASSIGNMENT
For your last painting, I want to encourage you to take on a challenge. Don’t do something too easy because you know it will turn out okay. Do something hard! Show me what you have learned and how you are going to continue your learning process!
I would like to see subject matter that has meaning to you. Don’t just make a pretty picture. Make ART.
Think about combining more than one thing: an animal and a person; a still life in front of a landscape, or an impossible situation depicted realistically. I don’t want to tell you what to do! Dig deep. Put your feelings out there. Take a few risks. Fail, if necessary.
Paint what’s under your bed. Paint the bottom of your closet. Paint a pile of laundry. Etc., etc., etc.!
Use light and dark tones, think about color, blending, composition, point of view, edge (or line if that’s your thing!), brush strokes, scale, texture, atmospheric perspective, and every little think you learned these past few weeks!
Surprise me. Surprise yourself. Take no prisoners!
Due along with written Reflection on MAY 20.
